Greek company ZEUSTECH I.T. Services introduced the Smart Engines software for passport scanning and automatic data extraction from machine-readable zones (MRZ) compliant with international and local standards for passports, residence permits, ID cards, visas, and others.
The integration of Smart Engines OCR solution enables ZEUSTECH to take a new step towards convenience and speed of customer service. Since June, the check-in passport reader has been available in the Zeus Hotels App and the Cook’s Club App.
Since April 1, 2010, machine-readable passports based on ICAO standards have been adapted globally, explicitly using face, iris, and fingerprint as biometric modalities. Machine-readable passports are more easily identified, making visa application and boarding procedures easier.
Recognition is done in video stream in real-time and takes about 1 second without special skills. Smart Engines solution guarantees a high-quality MRZ recognition notwithstanding lighting conditions, different angles, and passport position in front of the camera. Furthermore, the recognition process is autonomous on mobile devices and does not transfer ID pictures to third services or servers.
“ZEUSTECH team understands the changing reality and strives to work for business performance growth. Cassiopeia Enterprise application complemented by Smart Engines software will be more convenient and functional for our customers. We strongly believe that the cooperation will be mutually beneficial and successful”, said George Moulianakis, Managing Director of ZEUSTECH I.T. Services.
ZEUSTECH was established in 2017 in Heraklion, Crete, as a software house specializing in tourism. The company’s business model is based on successfully handling of all necessary operations a holiday resort needs to improve and provide high-quality services. In addition, ZEUSTECH concentrates on building long-term relationships with customers and helping them improve their business in the travel industry through innovation, flexibility, and cutting-edge technology.
