Smart Engines document recognition technologies work in Bulgaria

Bulgarian developer of hardware and software documents processing and ID cards company Prim41 Ltd has chosen recognition technologies of the Smart Engines. Within the framework of the cooperation, the first delivery of 100 licenses of the machine-readable document area recognition library (MRZ) was carried out.

Prim41 Ltd was founded in 2005 and specializes in developing comprehensive tools for extracting information from personal documents for the financial sector, hotel business, border control, and access control systems. The company’s solutions for scanning and document processing and ID cards operate in more than 300 hotels in Bulgaria.

Integration of Smart Engines technologies into the software product “Passport and ID card Reading-Prim41″ provides high-quality recognition of data on any documents with a machine-readable zone, implemented in accordance with the ISO / ICAO standard. In this case, Prim41 Ltd solutions can now process both scans and photos of document images, and work autonomously on mobile devices recognizing documents in a video stream.

Recognition time of documents with MRZ on images on modern desktop computers does not exceed 1 second without taking into account the time it takes to get the image itself. In mobile applications, you do not need to scan and photograph the document, and to recognize it using Smart Engines it’s enough to show the device’s camera for 1-2 seconds.
