The new version of Smart ID Engine recognizes Korean 15% better

Smart Engines presented a new version of the Smart ID Engine, a system for scanning ID cards, passports, driving licenses, and other identity documents. It has expanded the list of supported documents: now there are more than 2500 types. Among many improvements, Smart ID Engine 2.2.0 raised the recognition accuracy of the Korean language by 15%.

Our scientists have written a number of scientific articles devoted to the problem of recognizing various types of scripts including logographic ones. Recognition methods developed by Smart Engines can be used on mobile devices and in other special cases with limited computational power. Smart Engines technology allows precise text OCR in more than 100 languages, including Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Cyrillic and Latin script, and more.

Smart ID Engine 2.2.0 now supports 19 ID document types which were not supported previously or for which the template had been changed by the issuer. Thus, coverage was improved for some European countries (Greece, Ireland, Sweden, Hungary and Switzerland), North America, China, Turkey, and others.

In total, Smart ID Engine is able to recognize 2567 types of ID documents from 230 countries and jurisdictions. The total number of unique templates has increased to 4047.

In accordance with the strict security and privacy policy of Smart Engines, the software runs only on-premise or on-device and performs, Smart Engines software runs on-premise or on-device and performs OCR in real time, does not require a network connection, the presence of graphics processors (GPU) or powerful computing resources on the customer’s side.
